Zakat collection shifts to Iskandhar School from March 22

The Maldives Zakat House has announced that the zakat collection of staple food items, previously conducted at Salahuddin Hall in Majeediyya School, will now take place in the hall of Iskandhar School from Saturday onwards.

As per the official statement, zakat contributions will be accepted from March 22 to 27, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

For Fitr zakat, the required contribution is determined at 2.4 kilograms per person, based on the staple food customarily consumed. The Zakat House has specified that the following six food items will be accepted as zakat:

  • Normal rice
  • Thailand rice
  • Basmati rice
  • Red rice
  • Wheat flour
  • Atta flour

Individuals fulfilling their zakat obligations are urged to comply with these guidelines and ensure their contributions are made within the stipulated timeframe.
