Fabrizio Romano, the influential football journalist and newly appointed brand ambassador for Visit Maldives, is currently on holiday at Villa Nautica Resort in Maldives.

Romano, who was appointed as Visit Maldives’ brand ambassador on March 8, 2025, has been actively participating in promotional activities to boost the country’s tourism ,including a video of him playing football with local staff at the resort.

The 32-year-old Italian journalist, known for his global influence in sports media, has millions of followers across social platforms—23.5 million on X, 34 million on Instagram, and 15.2 million on TikTok.

Romano’s rise in football journalism began in 2009, and he gained worldwide recognition in 2011 for his coverage of Argentine footballer Mauro Icardi. Today, his social media presence continues to play a significant role in promoting the Maldives to a global audience.

During his visit, Romano also engaged in a friendly football match with local sports journalists, further strengthening ties between the Maldives and the international football community.
