The Maldives has welcomed its seventh cruise ship of the year, as the MS Crystal Symphony arrived in the country on March 23, 2025, marking its second visit this year.
The ship, which arrived from Colombo, Sri Lanka, brought 307 tourists and 477 crew members to the Maldives.
The Seaport Division of Maldives Immigration processed the clearance for both passengers and crew without incident. This is the second time the MS Crystal Symphony has docked in the Maldives in 2025, having first arrived in January with 216 tourists and 416 crew members.
This marks the third cruise ship to arrive in the country this month with the MS Insignia arrived from Seychelles bringing 576 tourists and 406 crew members, and the MS Zuidadam from Colombo followed on March 9, with 1,274 tourists and 751 crew members.
The Maldives continues to attract an increasing number of cruise ships. In response to the growing demand, the Government is working to develop dedicated jetties for cruise liners in three parts of the country.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, more than 588,484 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year, representing a 4.8 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
