The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has announced plans to launch a promotional campaign in partnership with Liverpool Football Club to boost tourism, particularly during the off-peak season.

In an exclusive interview with MMTV, MMPRC’s Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree stated the collaboration is expected to have a significant positive impact on the Maldives' tourism sector, leveraging Liverpool’s extensive global fan base to promote the country as a premium destination.

Shiuree noted that Liverpool FC boasts more than 22 million fans worldwide, many of whom are C-level executives and high-profile professionals, including CEOs and COOs. He explained that even if just 4 per cent of that audience chooses to visit, the Maldives could attract around 400,000 additional tourists.

Describing the campaign as a strategic move, Shiuree stated that Liverpool's brand influence offers access to high-end markets, with the potential to transform tourist arrivals during low seasons.

As part of the collaboration, MMPRC is planning a series of campaigns to increase tourist arrivals during the off-peak months, with Liverpool FC playing a central role in those efforts. Shiuree added that the same branding and promotional efforts will continue throughout the partnership, with special focus on low-season campaigns.

Earlier this month, Liverpool FC officially named the Maldives as its official tourist destination partner, marking a new chapter in global promotional efforts for the island nation’s tourism industry.
