In an effort to ease the challenges faced by Maldivian medical students in completing their internships, five additional hospitals in Bangladesh have been approved for training.

The initiative, led by the Maldivian Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expands the existing options beyond Chittagong Medical College Hospital and Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. The newly approved institutions include:

• Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College

• Mymensingh Medical College

• Rajshahi Medical College

• Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College, Bogura

• Cox’s Bazar Medical College

These hospitals are recognised by both the Maldives Medical and Dental Council and the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. Students interested in completing their internships in Bangladesh can apply via the Health Ministry’s email: [email protected].

Internships are already available at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in the Maldives, and the Government plans to introduce similar opportunities at Hulhumalé Hospital and Addu Equatorial Hospital.
