High commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Shiuneen Rasheed has recently met with the newly appointed Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Bangladesh’s acting government, Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan.

During this meeting, High Commissioner conveyed heartfelt congratulations to Asif on being newly appointed and highlighted the longstanding relationship between Maldives and Bangladesh. She also underscored initiatives under existing agreements between the two nations, focusing on the cooperation in sports and youth related activities. 

She also addressed her commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries and spoke regarding the friendly matches that took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh between the Maldives national football team and the Bangladesh national team.

Additionally, the High Commissioner emphasised interests in advancing cricket in the Maldives with assistance from Bangladesh, she maintained that with the aid of Bangladesh’s cricket institutes, Maldivian youth can foster the necessary skills required. 

Advisor Asif assured continued support for Maldives in promoting and progressing youth empowerment in sports. He also promised assistance in developing sports and youth in the Maldives across the region.
