Two people are in serious condition after suffering extensive burns in a house fire in Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo late last night, hospital officials confirmed

The married couple were rushed to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) with severe burns covering large portions of their bodies. They remain under emergency care as of this morning.

Police received reports of the blaze at approximately 11:15 p.m. and immediately coordinated emergency medical transport to Male'.

The fire reportedly originated in the couple's bedroom, though authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the incident.

An investigation into the fire is ongoing, according to police officials.
