The deadline for participation in the Bodu Beru Competition, a key highlight of Dhiveheenge Ufehduntherikamuge Maurazu 2025, has been extended.
The BCCI announced that the new deadline for registration is April 15, allowing more participants to take part in this event. Initially, the registration was set to close yesterday.
Organised in collaboration with Public Service Media (PSM), the competition aims to celebrate and promote traditional Maldivian music and culture. Interested participants can register through the official Local Creativity Exhibition website (www.expo.mv), where they can also find information about the competition’s rules and the cash prizes available to winners.
As the largest cultural exhibition ever held in the Maldives, Dhiveheenge Ufehduntherikamuge Maurazu 2025 seeks to showcase the nation’s rich history and heritage, with the Bodu Beru Competition providing a key platform to highlight the vibrant and energetic drumming tradition deeply embedded in Maldivian culture. The event aims to foster a greater appreciation for the country’s artistic traditions while inspiring passion and enthusiasm among Maldivians.
Scheduled to take place at Hulhumalé Central Park from May 23 -31, the exhibition will be held under the leadership and guidance of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and in consultation with the Ministry of Economic Development & Trade. Designed to unite creative talents from across the Maldives, the event is expected to attract widespread participation and engagement.
A special initiative has been launched to extend invitations to all islands of the Maldives, ensuring that the exhibition is inclusive, competitive, and representative of the national spirit. The event will not only provide a platform for both established and aspiring Bodu Beru performers but will also provide an opportunity to develop and refine their skills.
