President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to increasing the number of children graduating as Huffaz in the Maldives, emphasising the collective role of parents and teachers in achieving this goal. 

Speaking at the Huffaz Graduation Ceremony held on Wednesday evening at the Islamic Centre, he outlined the Government’s initiatives aimed at promoting Quranic education.

As part of these efforts, the President announced plans for the construction of a waqf building dedicated to Quranic education. He stated that the land for the building has already been designated, and official communication regarding the project will be sent to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs once Government offices resume operations after the holidays. He stressed that the establishment of this facility would significantly benefit the nation, describing it as a crucial investment in both intellectual and spiritual development.

The President also addressed the importance of applying Quranic teachings in everyday life, pointing out that moral values and human dignity were being undermined in society. He urged citizens to uphold Islamic principles and ensure that their actions align with the guidance provided in the Quran, rather than treating it as a text used only for ceremonial purposes.

He cautioned against engaging in conduct that contradicts Islamic teachings, such as defamation, misinformation, and actions that create division within communities. He emphasised the necessity of fostering mutual respect, highlighting that Islamic values encourage individuals to protect one another from harm, both through their words and actions. Strengthening these principles, he noted, would contribute to a more respectful and cohesive society.

Before concluding, the President stressed that progress and development should be anchored in religious faith and guided by Quranic values. He also commended the Huffaz for their dedication in reaching this significant milestone, acknowledging their perseverance and congratulating them on their achievements.
