Non-Resident Ambassador Geela presents credentials to King of the Netherlands

The newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Netherlands, Geela Ali, officially presented her Letter of Credence to King Willem-Alexander during a ceremony held at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague on Wednesday.

During the audience with the King, Ambassador Geela conveyed warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to the Government and people of the Netherlands. She reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and deepening cooperation in key areas such as climate change, renewable energy, and sustainable development.

Ambassador Geela was accompanied by her spouse, Abdulla Mushrif, and Mohamed Shaffau Ibrahim, First Secretary at the Embassy of Maldives in Brussels.

During her visit to The Hague, she is also scheduled to meet with senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands to explore further opportunities for collaboration.

The Maldives and the Netherlands have shared 45 years of diplomatic relations, with the Netherlands playing a key role as a partner in tourism and development initiatives.
