The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has confirmed that over half of the construction work on the Thilamale’ Bridge has been completed, marking a significant milestone in the development of the project.
According to the ministry, as of March 15, 52.44 per cent of the project has been finished. Current construction efforts are focused on laying pile caps, erecting pier columns, and launching segments of the superstructure. These tasks are progressing in line with the project’s timeline.
The Thilamale’ Bridge, a major infrastructure initiative connecting four locations, spans a total length of 6.7 km. The ministry has estimated that approximately USD 251,563,940.20 has been spent on the project so far. The construction of the section connecting Thilafushi is expected to be completed by September next year, with the entire bridge network scheduled for completion by 30 September 2026.
The overall project comprises three bridges, along with causeways and roads, covering a combined distance of 6.7 km. Additionally, interchange points and designated parking areas will be included to facilitate accessibility and connectivity between different areas.
