The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has announced a strategic partnership with Liverpool Football Club (LFC) to launch a USD 2.5 million marketing campaign aimed at promoting the Maldives in the United Kingdom.

This initiative, which will run for three months, seeks to position the Maldives as a premier travel destination, with a particular emphasis on sustainable tourism.

As part of the initiative, the Maldives' stunning landscapes and attractions will be featured across London through various advertising channels, including:

  • Local taxi advertisements – Over 100 taxis will carry promotional material showcasing the Maldives.
  • Bus branding – Buses across London will display captivating imagery of the country's breathtaking scenery.
  • London Underground promotions – Advertisements will be placed in key underground stations.
  • Airport and business lounge displays – Major airports and exclusive business class lounges will feature promotional content to engage high-end travellers.

Beyond traditional advertising, the campaign will also leverage digital marketing and interactive events to engage potential visitors. These initiatives include:

  • Special events with Liverpool FC legends
  • Interactive fan zones
  • Joint events at global trade shows
  • Other engaging activities

MMPRC affirmed that the campaign aligns with its strategic vision of positioning the Maldives as a world-leading destination. The initiative aims to highlight the country's distinctive experiences, pristine natural environment, and commitment to sustainable tourism. The corporation further noted that a similar outdoor and taxi advertising campaign in Berlin, conducted in March, had received positive feedback from industry leaders, reinforcing the effectiveness of such promotional strategies.

The campaign is expected to generate increased tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom while strengthening the Maldives' global brand as a premier holiday destination.
