The Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works has confirmed that equipment for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations has been dispatched to various islands across the Maldives.

Minister Adam Shareef Umar stated in an interview with state media that the materials required to decorate and enhance the islands for the festivities have been sent to 36 newly designated locations. With the inclusion of islands that participated in the celebrations last year, a total of 64 islands will take part in this year’s event.

According to the minister, any remaining equipment that has yet to be delivered will be sent out by the end of the day. Meanwhile, in Malé City, decorative lighting has been installed, with testing currently underway to ensure all arrangements are in place.

The minister also highlighted the involvement of various Government agencies in facilitating the preparations, ensuring that the celebrations are well-organised and effectively carried out.

This year’s main Eid-ul-Fitr event is scheduled to take place at Hulhumalé Central Park at 9:30 pm on March 29. The event has been planned to accommodate a large number of attendees, allowing more people to participate in the celebrations.
