Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has announced that the Waqf Fund will provide financial assistance for the development of the Lhaviyani Naifaru Quran Learning Centre.
The initiative comes in response to the increasing demand for resources to support children attending the centre, according to Minister Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.
In a statement shared with the media, Minister Shaheem highlighted that numerous children have sought support to enhance the learning environment at the centre. As a result, a decision was made to allocate funds from the Ministry’s Islamic Waqf Fund to aid its development.
Naifaru played a significant role in a recent event celebrating the achievements of Hafiz students in the Maldives. The island had the highest number of children from a single location participating in the graduation ceremony, where six students received the esteemed title of Hafiz after completing their study of the Holy Quran.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Shaheem outlined plans to expand Quran recitation programmes across all islands with established Islamic centres. He stated that the initiative would be extended to mosques across the islands, ensuring wider accessibility to religious education.
Additionally, the Government has pledged its support for various learning initiatives, including Islamic learning centres, Quranic classes, and Hifz programmes dedicated to the memorisation of the Holy Quran. The minister reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening religious education infrastructure and fostering a more supportive environment for students pursuing Islamic studies.
