The 92nd anniversary of the Maldives Police Service was commemorated on Friday with a special flag hoisting ceremony held in Malé City and at police stations across the country.

The main event took place at the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building in Malé at 12:00 a.m., and was attended by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan, Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau, Deputy Commissioners Farhad Fikuree and Ismail Naveen, along with police executive officers, commissioned officers, civil servants, and a large number of police personnel.

Following the flag hoisting, a police pledge was recited to reaffirm the service's commitment to duty and public trust. The pledge was led by Chief Superintendent of Police Hassan Saeed, while a special supplication was delivered by Chief Inspector of Police Ahmed Nazeef.

In addition to the ceremony in Malé, flag hoisting ceremonies were held at police stations throughout the country. These events were attended by heads and staff of local Government institutions, as well as police officers stationed in the respective islands.

The Maldives Police Service was established in 1932, and its transformation under the Police Service Act marked a major milestone in its history. With the enactment of this legislation, the police institution was granted operational independence, strengthening its mandate to uphold the law and serve the public with integrity.
