The Eid Haveeru 1446 celebrations held in Malé City on Sunday are set to continue for two additional days, following an extraordinary turnout and positive response from the public.

Organisers confirmed that the event will extend into Monday and Tuesday, with activities continuing at Sultan Park, Republic Square, and the Islamic Centre. The event, held in conjunction with Eid al-Fitr, featured a vibrant showcase of Maldivian culture and history. Various agencies, including the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Maldives Police Service, and State-owned enterprises, contributed to the festivities.

The evening programme included performances and appearances by beloved children’s characters from both past and present, offering entertainment for families and children alike.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed joined the celebrations, visiting stalls, greeting attendees, taking photographs, and spending time with the public. Their participation added to the festive spirit of the evening.

Many attendees remarked that this year’s Eid celebrations were among the most memorable in recent history, particularly for residents of the Malé area who were able to enjoy the occasion with their families in a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
