Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has confirmed that a team of foreign specialists has been brought in to treat the victims of the recent fire incident in Alifu Alifu Rasdhoo.

Speaking to MMTV, a media officer from the hospital said that the foreign specialists are now attending to the two victims, who sustained severe injuries in the incident. 

The victims, a 31-year-old woman and a man, suffered extensive burns, with the woman sustaining burns to 83 per cent of her body and the man suffering burns covering 78 per cent. Both are currently being treated on ventilators at IGMH.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the fire. Maldives Police Service reported receiving information about the incident at 11:15 p.m. on March 24 and confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
