The Baibalaa Association of Maldives has announced that all preparations are complete for the launch of the Eid Baibalaa Challenge 1446, with notable changes set to enhance this year’s tournament.

The competition draws, initially planned for next Tuesday in Hulhumalé Phase 1, were conducted last Saturday instead.

A total of 29 teams are participating in this year's tournament, with the opening match featuring the reigning champions, Round Sports Club, against TFT. Last year’s runners-up, Club Kaasinjee, are set to face Teenage Veterans in their first game of the competition.

The event manager, Stage Co, has organised the set-up, which the Baibalaa Association has described as the best the sport has seen in the country to date. According to the association, this year’s tournament is expected to be more competitive and of higher quality compared to previous editions.

Teams have been actively preparing for the tournament, with some beginning their training immediately after last year’s event. Four prominent teams have also strengthened their squads by signing some of the most skilled players in the Baibalaa community at significant costs.

The Baibalaa Association has emphasised the importance of maintaining the spirit of the game throughout the six-day tournament in Hulhumalé Phase 1 and has urged all players to conduct themselves accordingly. The association has also called for cooperation from all participating teams to ensure a smooth and successful event.

This year, the tournament has received substantial support from the Government, which has provided assistance to both the participating teams and the association. The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is offering full backing to facilitate the event in Hulhumalé.
