An altercation broke out between a group of expatriate workers at the Velana International Airport (VIA) on Tuesday, resulting in three injuries.

The confrontation occurred at approximately 4:49 p.m. among foreign labourers currently employed in the construction of the new VIA terminal project. According to the Maldives Police Service, the fight stemmed from an internal dispute between the workers, though authorities have not disclosed specific details about the nature of the disagreement.

Police officers responded promptly to the scene, where they found three foreign nationals injured—two Egyptian citizens and one Bangladeshi worker. The injured parties were immediately transported to Tree Top Hospital and Hulhumale' Hospital for medical treatment. None of the workers sustained serious injuries, police officials confirmed.

The Maldives Police Service stated that the incident is currently under active investigation.
