The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and the Maldives Police Service have advised the public to adhere to official instructions as a significant increase in passenger traffic is expected at Velana International Airport on Friday and Saturday.

According to MACL, a large number of Umrah pilgrims are scheduled to arrive in the Maldives starting Friday, which will contribute to heightened activity at the airport. The company has specifically highlighted that Friday afternoon, between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm, is expected to be one of the busiest periods.

Travellers departing on these two days are strongly encouraged to arrive at the airport well in advance to avoid delays and ensure smooth departure procedures. The public is also urged to comply with transport and parking regulations to help ease congestion and maintain safety.

The Maldives Police Service has also called on road users heading to the airport to follow traffic guidance provided by officers.

Such advisories are commonly issued on days when high passenger volumes are expected, particularly during holiday seasons and major religious travel periods.
