Maldives elected to the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women: President guarantees cooperation

The Maldives has been elected as a member of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
The Maldives has been elected for the 2026 to 2030 term. This is a notable achievement as this is the first time the Maldives became a member of CSW.
Following this announcement, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu congratulated all countries elected to the commission today, including the Maldives.
In his post on X, the President highlighted that it is a great honour for the Maldives to be elected as a member of the CSW. The President also emphasised the importance of collective partnership in addressing pressing global matters concerning women’s rights and empowerment.
The President highlighted the significant progress the Maldives has made in strengthening women’s rights and status at both national and international levels. He also expressed interest in collaborating with the partners and providing the required support to achieve an inclusive future.
The Maldives has always worked towards achieving women’s rights and gender equality and has made significant progress nationally and internationally. Being a member of the CSW will give the Maldives a platform to work towards achieving this more efficiently.
