President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has concluded his trip to Liverpool, United Kingdom, where he participated in the kick-off of a groundbreaking Maldives tourism promotion campaign in collaboration with Liverpool Football Club.
This venture is part of a co-branded initiative between Liverpool FC and the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC)/Visit Maldives.
One of the key highlights of the visit was the President attending the Merseyside derby between Liverpool FC and Everton on Wednesday evening, marking the official launch of the Maldives tourism campaign. He also took time to visit the AXA training centre, gaining valuable insights into the footballing and coaching practices carried out there.
In addition to his official engagements, President Dr Muizzu met with Maldivian students residing in the UK. He reassured them of the Administration's commitment to supporting students and tackling issues they face while pursuing their education abroad.
On March 27, Visit Maldives launched a high-impact outdoor campaign in the UK, aimed at attracting tourists through its strategic partnership with Liverpool FC. Over the next three months, the campaign will feature more than 100 branded taxis in London, ads on buses, the London Underground, major airports, and business-class lounges—ensuring the Maldives gains maximum visibility among potential travellers.
The campaign also includes LED signage at Premier League home matches, branding across Liverpool FC’s stadium, exposure in the club’s official booklets, and billboards across Europe, targeting high-value travellers and ensuring unmatched global exposure.
The President was accompanied by Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Tourism and Environment; Abdulla Rafiu, Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation; Ibrahim Shiuree, Managing Director of MMPRC; and other senior Government officials.
