The Bank of Maldives (BML) has revealed the recipients of its Waste Management Grant Project, a key initiative aimed at improving sustainable waste management practices across the Maldives.
This programme is part of BML’s broader commitment to fostering sustainable communities and contributing to environmental protection.
This year’s grant was awarded to two organisations with significant projects addressing waste management challenges.
Live and Learn Environmental Education Maldives received three glass crusher machines, which will be installed in K. Gaafaru, AA. Ukulhas, and ADh. Dhigurah. Meanwhile, the Maldives Ocean Plastic Alliance (MOPA) was granted one glass crusher machine and one baler to support their operations in Hulhumalé.
The Waste Management Grant Project provides vital equipment valued at up to MVR 500,000 to organisations dedicated to advancing waste management practices. The selected recipients benefit from equipment procured and delivered directly by the Bank, ensuring that the resources are ready for immediate implementation.
By supporting these initiatives, BML aims to help reduce the strain on landfills and promote efficient recycling processes across the country. The selected projects will contribute to addressing the Maldives’ pressing waste management challenges while fostering a culture of sustainability.
The grant project highlights BML’s ongoing efforts to align with national environmental goals, empowering local communities to adopt innovative and efficient waste management solutions.
