President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially amended the geographic jurisdiction of Gaafu Dhaalu Hoan’dedhdhoo Administrative Region, following the removal of Gaafu Dhaalu Kadevarehaa from its authority.

This decision reflects the president’s broader commitment to promoting integrated tourism development in the southern region of Huvadhu Atoll, which was formalised under Presidential Decree No. 10/2025, issued on Sunday. 

The amendment was made under the authority granted to the President under Section 56(a) of the Decentralisation Act (Act No. 07/2010), which allows the President to determine and designate the jurisdictions of both City and Island Councils.

Following the decree, a revised chart reflecting the updated geographic jurisdiction of GDh Hoan’dedhdhoo has been codified and published in the Government Gazette.
