A total of 30 cats are currently under care at the Olhu Hiyaa facility.

In a recent post shared on X, The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare (MAAW) revealed that 30 rescued stray cats are now under care at the Olhu Hiyaa facility. 

MAAW highlighted that the recent upgrades to the facility such as the reinforced net cover have helped keep the kittens safe. 

The Olhu Hiyaa facility was launched on November 2, 2024, in the Hulhumale 2nd phase, to address the problem of stray cats in Male’. It was officially inaugurated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. 

The establishment of the Olhu Hiyaa facility is a significant step towards solving the issue of stray cats in Male’.
