Minister of Tourism and Environment, Thoriq Ibrahim, has conducted an inspection visit to a resort development project led by the Maldives Real Estate and Agricultural Company (MRAC), where a natural lagoon has been reclaimed for tourism purposes.

According to the Ministry, the visit was aimed at reviewing the progress of the project and assessing land use and environmental protection measures on site. Minister Thoriq was received by the project’s management team and briefed on key developments, including infrastructure work and environmental safeguards implemented during reclamation.

The Minister also inspected the boundaries of the reclaimed land and evaluated ongoing preparations for the resort’s construction. During the visit, he highlighted the importance of ensuring that development projects maintain a balance between tourism expansion and environmental sustainability.

As part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s nationwide 5 Million Trees initiative, Minister Thoriq planted a tree at the project site, symbolising the Government’s continued focus on integrating green initiatives into development efforts.
