The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has awarded the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) the contract to complete the construction of a mosque in Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo.

According to MTCC, the new mosque will be built on a 7,933 square foot site and will have the capacity to accommodate 500 people. The project is valued at MVR 9.44 million and is expected to be completed within 360 days.

MTCC stated that the aim is to deliver a high-quality mosque to serve the needs of the local community in Hanimaadhoo.

The agreement was formalised during a handover ceremony held on Tuesday. MTCC Managing Director DCP (Retired) Ahmed Saudee signed on behalf of the company, while Deputy Minister Ibrahim Asim represented the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

MTCC has been involved in a similar development projects across the Maldives. In 2024, the company completed renovation works at the Islamic Centre in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo.
