The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has officially commenced practical work on the Fiyoari harbour development project in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

The inauguration ceremony was held on Friday and attended by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib, and MTCC Managing Director DCP (Retired) Ahmed Saudee. Also present were Faresmaathoda MP Ashraf Rasheed and senior Government officials.

The project, awarded at a contract value of MVR 38.9 million, includes major upgrades to the harbour, such as channel dredging, construction of a ramp, backfilling, revetment work, and the installation of street lighting, among other developments aimed at improving accessibility and safety.

Alongside Fiyoari, MTCC is currently undertaking several infrastructure projects across Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, including works in Thinadhoo, Rathafandhoo, Madaveli, Hoadedhdhoo, Gadhdhoo, and Fares-Maathoda.
