The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested an individual during a patrol operation and seized drugs. 

He was arrested during a patrol operation in Vilimalé on April 10. 

MPS has identified the arrested individual as Ali Sharujeelu, a 56-year-old from Noonu Velidhoo. 

MPS revealed that during the patrol, they stopped and searched him on the suspect of possessing drugs. Police recovered 30 packets of substances that are suspected to be narcotics. 

While the investigation is ongoing, the court has ordered his remand for 10 days. 

In addition, police have summoned an individual for investigation on suspicion of fraudulently exchanging US dollars. The suspect in this case was identified as Ali Azim, 43, from Malé. The investigation is being conducted by Meemu Dhiggaru Police Station.

MPS revealed that Azim is accused of fraudulently exchanging US dollars and extorting large amounts of money on different occasions. 

So far, MPS has not been able to identify where he lives. Therefore, MPS has made the public notice to appear for investigation, following Article 27 of the rules of procedures for the investigation of criminal cases.
