The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has announced the suspension of two prosecutors in relation to an active investigation concerning allegations of sexual harassment and breaches of ethical standards. 

PGO confirmed that the suspensions are effective pending the outcome of a comprehensive inquiry being conducted by the office’s internal Ethics Committee. Preliminary reports indicate that the allegations involve serious infringements of the professional code of conduct upheld by the institution.

The identities of the prosecutors in question have not been disclosed. However, the PGO affirmed that appropriate disciplinary measures are currently in progress. The case is also under parallel investigation by the Maldives Police Service.
