Chief Executive of Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad on Monday paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

During the meeting, the President conveyed his gratitude to Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad for accepting the Order of the Dignified Rule of Muleege Dynasty.

President Dr Muizzu highlighted the pivotal role of the Saudi Fund for Development in advancing key national projects, including the expansion of Velana International Airport (VIA) and developments in the health and housing sectors.

The President and the CEO of SFD expressed strong interest in further strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing collaboration, reaffirming their commitment to the timely completion of ongoing projects, and emphasising their shared dedication to achieving impactful development outcomes. 

Before the meeting, Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad signed the guest book at the President's Office.

Earlier today, the Maldives signed an additional loan agreement worth USD 17 million with the SFD for the VIA expansion project
