President honours Madulu Waheed’s long-standing service to the nation

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu honoured Madulu Mohamed Waheed’s services to the nation, highlighting his long-standing contribution to the Dhivehi language.
Madulu Waheed, a prominent figure in the country passed away this morning while receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), after a prolonged illness.
Following this news, President Dr Muizzu expressed his condolences for his family in a post shared on X.
In this post, President Dr Muizzu highlighted Madulu Waheed’s services and that he was devoted to Dhivehi language and literature until his last moment.
President also stated Madulu Waheed’s achievements over the years including the encouragement award for public service in 1997, the encouragement award for public service in the field of short story writing in 1997, and the honourary award he received in 2019 in the field of Dhivehi language and literature. He was also awarded for his service in journalism with Alimas Galan.
President stated that Madulu Waheed’s valuable service to the nation, from the Dhivehi language to sharing his knowledge through teaching, will remain unfaded within us.
Madulu Waheed started his career in the literature of the Dhivehi language during his school days, marking a lifelong dedication to Dhivehi literature.
