President offers condolences over PM Badawi’s passing

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Malaysia following the passing of former Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
In a message to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, President Dr Muizzu expressed deep sorrow over the death of the veteran statesman, describing him as a leader who dedicated his life to public service and the development of his nation. He noted Badawi’s contributions to strengthening Malaysia’s economy and fostering unity through the promotion of moderation and good governance.
"The late Prime Minister’s legacy will be remembered for his steady leadership and commitment to national progress," the President said.
Additionally, the President conveyed the solidarity of the Maldivian people with Malaysia during this time of mourning, offering his sincere condolences to the government, the people of Malaysia, and to the bereaved family.
Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi served as Malaysia’s fifth Prime Minister from 2003 to 2009. His administration was marked by a focus on progressive Islamic values, interfaith harmony, and economic reforms for sustainable growth.
