President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has ratified the Third Amendment to the Maldives Immigration Act banning Israeli passport holders from entering the Maldives, a move aligned with the Government's stance on the ongoing genocide committed by Israelis against Palestinians.
With this decision, Israeli passport holders will be denied entry to the Maldivian archipelago until Israel puts a halt to the genocide.
The ruling party of Maldives, People's National Congress (PNC), which holds a supermajority in the People's Majlis, passed the amendment unanimously during Tuesday's parliamentary sitting.
Member of Parliament for South Galolhu Constituency, Meekail Ahmed Naseem, proposed the amendment, specifically targeting Israeli passport holders.
According to the legislation, individuals presenting Israeli passports at Maldivian borders will be automatically refused entry; however, the ban does not extend to dual nationals travelling on non-Israeli passports.
