The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested the Prosecutor General’s Office to press charges against three former Fenaka Corporation Limited (FENAKA) staff for misappropriating petty cash funds allocated to project sites.

The individuals include Ahmed Sathish Saeed of Seenu Feydhoo, who served as Deputy Director of the Projects Department; Mohamed Asid of Thaa Thimarafushi, then Senior Engineer of the same department; and Hussain Asir of Seenu Feydhoo, who held the role of Supervisor.

According to the ACC, the trio allegedly used petty cash allocated for the Central Power Station (CPS) project in Addu City’s Hithadhoo for personal expenses, violating the corporation’s petty cash management regulations.

The Commission has requested charges including solicitation and conspiracy to commit an offence, abuse of official authority for undue advantage, and embezzlement of state property and funds.

In addition to seeking prosecution, the ACC has directed FENAKA to recover MVR 623,208.80 in connection with the case.

As the investigation also uncovered acts of forgery, the Commission has decided to refer that aspect of the case to the Maldives Police Service for further inquiry.
