A specialist clinic for wound treatment has been officially opened at Hulhumalé Hospital, offering advanced care and modern facilities for patients requiring ongoing wound management.
The clinic was inaugurated on Thursday by Malé City Group of Hospitals CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem, who described the initiative as a significant step forward for Hulhumalé Hospital. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the CEO noted that the new clinic will bring considerable relief to the residents of Hulhumalé and surrounding areas, who require regular wound care services.
He also revealed that more than 5,000 patients have already received wound care at the hospital so far this year. With the opening of this specialised facility, the CEO said patients can now benefit from dedicated wound treatment under independent management, ensuring a more streamlined and effective service.
Following the inauguration, Consultant Sub-Specialist in Plastic Surgery Dr Mohamed Waheed spoke to the media, highlighting the clinic’s focus on advanced wound care techniques for complex wound types. He explained that the clinic will use some of the most advanced dressing materials available globally.
Dr Waheed further noted that in the past, patients had to make separate appointments each time they needed wound care. With the new system in place, patients will now be formally registered at the clinic, and a personalised care plan will be developed to determine the type and frequency of treatment required.
