Justice Mohamed Faisal appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Justice Mohamed Faisal as the Chief Justice of the High Court.

This was decided during the Commission’s 15th session on March 19, 2025. 

This position became vacant following the former Chief Justice Hussain Shaheed’s appointment as the Justice of the Supreme Court on March 19. 

Justice Faisal holds a first degree in Sharia and law from the Maldives College of Islamic Studies. 

He has contributed to the field since 2012, including serving as a member of the JSC since May 22, 2014, and as a High Court Justice since July 24, 2018.
