The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has referred a case to the Prosecutor General’s office (PGO), involving allegations of undue influence in the employment of an individual at the Islamic University of Maldives (IMU).

According to the ACC’s investigation, an individual was appointed to the administrator position at the IUM on November 5, 2017, despite not meeting the required educational qualifications and work experience.

In connection with this case, ACC has requested the prosecution of the former Director of the Human Resource Department, Dr Ibrahim Sameer Thaa Thimarafushi, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Ali Rahseed of Baa Eydhafushi.

ACC stated that additional points were awarded during the hiring process, violating the IUM’s standards and regulations.

They are being charged with misusing confidential information as a public servant for unlawful gain, abusing their official status, and obtaining an unfair advantage.
