STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmy has urged the public to be mindful of electricity usage as temperatures continue to soar across the Maldives.

In a post on X, Fahmy highlighted the increased heat and advised people to avoid setting air conditioners below 25°C and to use electricity only when absolutely necessary.

He revealed that electricity consumption in the Malé region peaked at 114 megawatts at 3 p.m. last Thursday, the highest recorded so far this year. As of 1 p.m. today, the load had already reached 111 megawatts.

Fahmy described individual efforts to reduce electricity use as crucial for both personal and societal benefit. He called on the public to use electricity wisely and avoid unnecessary wastage.
