The Government is taking steps to expand dialysis services at Hulhumale’ Hospital as part of a wider effort to improve healthcare infrastructure in the Greater Male’ Region, according to Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim.

The announcement was made during a special ceremony held to commemorate the 21st anniversary of Hulhumale’ Hospital. The event was attended by Minister Nazim and the CEO of the Male’ Group of Hospitals, Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem.

During his speech, Minister Nazim stressed that enhancing the hospital’s capacity is vital to meeting the rising healthcare demands in the region. He noted that the existing health system in the Male’ area cannot operate efficiently without significant improvements to Hulhumale’ Hospital, and highlighted that the development is being prioritised under the leadership of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

Among the key projects outlined were the expansion of the emergency room and dialysis facilities, as well as upgrades to several key departments. These include enlarging the medical and paediatric wards, increasing outpatient and inpatient mental health services, and expanding the number of outpatient consultation rooms.

Further plans involve the development of a central medical gas manifold system, the extension of the women’s ward, and the establishment of new delivery suites aimed at improving maternal health services.

Minister Nazim also expressed appreciation for the hospital’s efforts in recognising its employees and urged all departments to continue working collaboratively to maintain high standards of care and deliver sustainable health services.
