Business assistance loan products offered by the SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC) are available to all Maldivians, with the aim of supporting existing businesses, according to the corporation's representatives.

Speaking on MMTV’s Bodu Khabaru programme, SDFC Customer Service Representative Fareela Abdul Gadir said the loan schemes can be used for a wide range of purposes and have seen growing interest from the public.

“We believe all of our current products are accessible to every Maldivian citizen. They can be used to start new businesses or expand existing ones. We are receiving a positive response, with new applications coming in daily,” Fareela said.

Also appearing on the programme, SDFC Senior Business Specialty Support Officer Hushama Hassan highlighted that the corporation’s core mission is to offer accessible financing solutions to individuals who may face challenges securing loans through conventional channels.

“Our focus is not just on providing loans, but also on offering the necessary guidance to help businesses progress,” she said.

SDFC was established in 2019 to provide financial support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The corporation offers funding aimed at launching, sustaining and expanding businesses across various economic sectors. SDFC continues to promote sustainable business development through simplified financing opportunities.
