Imam of Masjid al-Nabawi arrives in Maldives on a historic visit

The Imam of Masjid al-Nabawi, Sheikh Dr Salah al-Budair, has arrived in the Maldives.
Upon his arrival, he was welcomed with a red carpet by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, the Chief Imam of the Islamic Centre, Sheikh Mohamed Latheef, along with senior officials from the Islamic Ministry.
Sheikh Dr Salah al-Budair is visiting the Maldives at an official invitation extended by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, under the guidance of the President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. This invitation was approved by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
During his visit, he will pay a courtesy call on President Dr. Muizzu. In addition, meetings are scheduled with religious local scholars, including the Islamic Minister, Dr Shaheem, members of the Supreme Council of Fatwa,
Sheikh Dr Salah al-Budair will also deliver the Friday sermon at the Islamic Centre and present a public religious lecture.
Sheikh Dr Salah al-Budair’s visit to the Maldives marks the first visit by an Imam from one of the holy mosques in 40 years.
