The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) to press charges against a former officer of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), accused of attempting to fraudulently sell a land plot in Hulhumalé Phase 2.

The individual, identified as Futhiha Shakir, previously held the position of Estate Officer at HDC. The ACC alleges that Shakir collected MVR 550,000 from a private party after falsely claiming that a 2,600-square-foot plot of land in Hulhumalé Phase 2 was available for sale.

According to the ACC’s investigation, Shakir forged payment receipts under HDC’s name to support the fraudulent claim and misled the individual into making the payment.

As a result, the ACC has recommended charging Shakir under Article 513(b) of the Penal Code, which pertains to the abuse of power for personal gain. The commission is also claiming MVR 550,000 obtained through the alleged scheme.
