The Maldives Police Service in Baa Eydhafushi has launched a new initiative aimed at enhancing community safety, including the creation of a database of children found outdoors without parental supervision after 10:00 p.m.

According to police, the database will help track minors who are regularly seen outside at night, with the aim of identifying those at risk or potentially involved in criminal activity. Authorities stated that the initiative is part of broader efforts to make Eydhafushi a crime-free society and support the reintegration of vulnerable youth into the community.

In a related move, Eydhafushi Police have also started the installation of CCTV cameras in the island’s harbour area. The cameras were provided by the Secretariat of the Eydhafushi Council to assist law enforcement with surveillance and public safety.

Police noted that this initiative reflects ongoing collaboration between the Eydhafushi Police Station and the Island Council to strengthen security infrastructure and promote crime prevention.
