Emirates will begin operating its retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft to the Maldives starting June 1, 2025, as part of the airline’s ongoing cabin upgrade programme.

The first of the refreshed aircraft will operate on flights EK 658/659, with two more services—EK 656/657 and EK 660/661—set to follow from July 15, 2025. The aircraft feature revised interiors and Emirates’ four-class configuration, including Premium Economy seating and redesigned Business Class cabins with increased privacy.

The retrofit programme is part of a broader initiative by Emirates to update over 220 aircraft, including both Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s, by September 2025. The airline currently rolls out one refurbished aircraft every three weeks under the project.

Each updated Boeing 777 includes 24 Premium Economy seats and 260 Economy Class seats. The changes are aimed at improving comfort and modernising the airline’s long-haul fleet in line with evolving passenger expectations.

The Maldives continues to be a key destination in Emirates’ network, with the airline among the largest carriers servicing the country. According to the Ministry of Tourism, 44 international airlines currently operate to the Maldives, reflecting steady demand for both tourism and transit.
