The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has shared stunning images of blossoming Reethigas trees in Central Park, Hulhumalé, to mark Earth Day, celebrated annually on April 22.

The vibrant photos capture trees in full bloom across the park, one of the greenest areas in the Malé region, where blossoms now outshine the leaves. Central Park, known as a place for families and friendships, has been transformed into a floral haven as seasonal flowers grace its grounds.

The initiative is part of Earth Day’s global celebration of environmental efforts and a reminder of the importance of protecting plant life.

HDC continues to maintain and enrich Central Park as a green urban sanctuary. Alongside regular upkeep, the corporation organises tree-planting drives to expand Hulhumalé’s urban greenery across streets and public spaces.

Last month, HDC also released captivating images of Madimas Vakaru trees in full bloom along Chanbeyli Magu, with fallen petals carpeting the pavement – another striking seasonal sight.

To further support greening initiatives, HDC plans to establish a plant nursery in Laamu Gan. This year, it has acquired a 100,000-square-foot plot to grow more flora for the islands under its stewardship.
