A man has been taken into custody in relation to an incident in which a woman was discovered after falling onto the roof of a residential building in the Malé in the early hours of last Friday.

According to police, the suspect identified as Raud Ahmed Zilaal of G. Eriyadhoo was taken into custody under a court order at 18:20 today. Authorities confirmed that Raud was present with the woman inside the building at the time of the incident. CCTV footage released by the police shows both individuals together at the location.

Investigators reported that prior to the incident, Raud and the woman had visited two other residences that same night. They had been with several other individuals. Statements have been collected from all parties involved, and their passports have been withheld in accordance with the ongoing investigation.

Police further confirmed that Raud has been formally arrested. Additionally, under court authorisation, mobile phones belonging to seven individuals including that of the 21-year-old woman have been seized.

As part of the investigation,the terrace, as well as the second and fourth floors of the residence identified as Ma. Maandhoogedhekunuge was searched. Police also conducted a search of the third floor of G. Kashivelige.
