President Dr Muizzu urges police to ensure transparency in communication

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called upon the Maldives Police Service to ensure the transparent and timely dissemination of information, highlighting the crucial role of open communication in fostering public trust.
He made these remarks during a ceremony commemorating the 92nd anniversary of the Maldives Police Service.
The President was accompanied by First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed, state ministers, senior police officials, and other high-ranking Government representatives.
Emphasising the importance of timely and accurate public information, President Dr Muizzu stated that such transparency will enhance the police’s ability to fulfil their duties effectively and prevent the spread of misinformation, whether for political or other motives.
President Dr Muizzu repeatedly emphasised the role of the police in upholding the rule of law and affirmed his commitment to take all necessary measures to strengthen and maintain public confidence in the institution.
Highlighting the Government’s continued efforts to enhance the capabilities, President Dr Muizzu announced that full access to police services will be provided nationwide with improvements in resources, infrastructure, and service delivery mechanisms.
In addition, President Dr Muizzu stated that police services would be established in all inhabited islands of the Maldives by the end of this year. Over the next three years, dedicated police stations are planned for 110 islands. He emphasised that this expansion will prioratise equipping the police force with the requisite training and facilities.
Upon arrival at the ceremony, the President was received with an Honour Guard. During the event, he presented commemorative mementoes to police personnel in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the service.
