The Maldives has participated in the Kazakhstan International Travel Fair (KITF), one of the largest tourism exhibitions in Central Asia, held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from April 23 to 25.
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) represented the country at the event, joined by 11 co-exhibitors from the Maldivian tourism sector. The fair, which has been held annually since 2001, serves as a major platform for connecting with key travel trade partners from Kazakhstan and surrounding regions.
MMPRC stated that the Maldives’ participation in KITF 2025 helped strengthen ties with travel agents from Kazakhstan and Central Asia, while also promoting the Maldives as a year-round destination to a wider audience. Visitors were provided with updated information on travel to the Maldives and the wide range of tourism products available.
The Maldives' stand at KITF 2025 was designed to reflect the destination’s brand identity, "Sunny Side of Life", incorporating visual elements. According to MMPRC, the stand featured vibrant imagery of Maldivian landscapes and targeted messaging to attract travellers interested in premium experiences.
In terms of market performance, MMPRC reported that the Maldives welcomed over 27,000 tourists from the Central Asia region in 2024. So far in 2025, 3,318 arrivals have been recorded from the market. MMPRC also noted that upcoming promotional activities in this region include a marketing campaign in collaboration with the PAC Group, aimed at increasing destination visibility and demand.
