President Dr Mohamed Muizzu departed for Malaysia on Sunday morning for an official visit at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

This is President Dr Muizzu’s first official visit to Malaysia since assuming office.

During the visit, the President is scheduled to hold talks with the Prime Minister, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties, discussing regional and international issues, and exploring new areas of cooperation. The leaders are also expected to oversee the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding and Exchange of Notes between the two countries.

President Dr Muizzu will attend a Business Forum organised by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, where he will meet with Malaysian investors. He is also due to deliver a lecture at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) on "Intellectual Renaissance: Unveiling the Scientific and Modern Development of Islamic Civilisation."

The President will also meet with members of the Maldivian community living in Malaysia as part of his engagements during the visit.
